In order to get more accurate results, our search has the following Google-Type search functionality:
If you use '+' in front of a word, then that word will be present in the search results.
ex: Harry +Potter will return results with the word 'Potter'.
If you use '-' in front of a word, then that word will be absent in the search results.
ex: Harry -Potter will return results without the word 'Potter'.
If you use 'AND' between two words, then both of those words will be present in the search results.
ex: Harry AND Potter will return results with both 'Harry' and 'Potter'.
If you use 'OR' between two words, then bth of those words may or may not be present in the search results.
ex: Harry OR Potter will return results with just 'Harry', results with just 'Potter' and results with both 'Harry' and 'Potter'.
If you use 'NOT' before a word, then that word will be absent in the search results.
ex: Harry NOT Potter will return results without the word 'Potter'.
Placing '""' around words will perform a phrase search. The search results will contain those words in that order.
ex: "Harry Potter" will return any results with 'Harry Potter' in them, but not 'Potter Harry'.
Using '*' in a word will perform a wildcard search. The '*' signifies any number of characters. Searches can not start with a wildcard.
ex: Pot*er will return results with words starting with 'Pot' and ending in 'er'. In this case, 'Potter' will be a match.

OverviewThe target group of this book are general surgeons with trauma training, orthopedic surgeons, pediatric surgeons, including residents as well as advanced surgeons. The book intends to convey basic principles of soft-tissue handling after orthopedic trauma. It is neither a book for plastic/reconstructive surgeons nor a book to train orthopaedic surgeons to become plastic/reconstructive surgeons. Both residents and advanced orthopedic surgeons often lack basic knowledge on the soft tissues. It is important to address this and at the same time give hints at what is possible in soft-tissue management without dwelling on procedures that most orthopedic surgeons will not be able to perform themselves. As there is still not much awareness among orthopedic surgeons that taking care of the soft tissues is the focus of and crucial for healing, and that fracture fixation is often not the most important aspect, we want to get this important message across throughout the book. Even the easiest damage-control measures will be presented. Awareness should be created that restored function is the focus rather than restoration of the bone. A goal is also to impart the different way of thinking of plastic surgeons to orthopedic surgeons, which involves even more meticulous planning than usual in orthopedic surgery, and to give a guideline (decision trees) for decision making, to give an idea when a plastic surgeon is necessary etc. Making correct decisions at the right time, and adapting them if necessary, is a most important part in softtissue management and therefore of this book. Among plastic surgeons there are a lot of philosophies, which will be hinted at in the book, pointing out pros and cons without necessarily favoring one particular procedure. In general, an advanced procedure can be mentioned (saying that it is possible), but is not going to be described in detail and will require a hint that its something for the specialist. Procedures covered comprise the most frequent/typical ones that can well be done by orthopedic surgeons. As soft-tissue injury is difficult to judge/teach and requires a lot of experience, the book will include an extensive section that presents typical cases to learn from. The book will be accompanied by various videos and some animations that show procedures. The videos/animations will be prepared in a way that makes them suitable for a course teaching module as well. This module must be suitable for the AO Principles Course and the Advanced Course. Full Product DetailsAuthor: David A.
